AUTO INSURANCE

Purchasing auto insurance is a task that no one really looks forward to. It can be quite painful at times, and it is always difficult to figure out if you truly got a good rate or not. Here are some tips on making sure you save on your next auto insurance purchase: 1. Be sure to shop around - Auto insurance companies vary their rates dramatically, even for driver's with good habits. Try to get quotes from at least 3-4 insurance companies, if not more. You will likely notice differences of hundreds of dollars between the rates they want to charge you. 2. Consolidate your policies. Most auto insurance companies will provide a discount to you if you insure more than one vehicle. Insure your cars as well as a home or other vehicle (boat, motorcycle, etc.), and you will likely save even more. 3. Raise your deductible. The deductible is the amount you pay for repairs before the auto insurance company covers the rest. Many people choose $100 or $250 deductibles, thinking they don't want to pay out of pocket. However, making an insurance claim will only raise your insurance rates in the future, so you will likely want to pay for small repairs yourself. Raising your deductible to $500 or $1000 will often dramatically reduce your auto insurance rates.
